Aesthetically speaking, the Wolverine is shaping up to be pretty damn cool. As mentioned above, it will utilize Razer's awesomely dynamic Chroma technology, which is old hat for PC users but a first for eager Xbox fans. And as you can see in the main image, there will be an integrated RGB light strip on top of the gamepad that can be programmed (via the handy Synapse app) to display all number of interesting hue combinations and patterns.  It's also supporting something called Chroma SDK, which will apparently allow interested developers access to the Wolverine's limitless lighting capabilities so they can implement illuminated feedback for Xbox One games.

Without the controller in hand, it's difficult to say how sturdy the build quality will be or how agreeable the buttons will feel. What I can say, though, is that most Razer products I've used thus far have been incredibly solid, from keyboards to mice and everything in between. However, I should mention that I did try the Serval a few years back, which was a controller that came packaged with Razer's ill-fated Forge TV console, and honestly, it wasn't the best. That said, the Serval was a peripheral designed specifically for lightweight Android gaming, while the Wolverine is looking to occupy an entirely different segment of the gaming market, one populated with eSports and bros who just need that extra edge. I have decent faith that Razer is cooking up something good with this one, and I'm really looking forward to trying it out when I get the chance.

The totally customizable Wolverine Ultimate will release this September for a MSRP of $159.99.

Stylish hardware manufacturer Razer has just announced the Wolverine Ultimate, a professional-gradeand officially licensedcontroller for Xbox and PC. Boasting features like interchangeable thumbsticks, directional pads that can be swapped out, two extra shoulder buttons and a set of back-facing triggers, this high-end bundle of buttons and pwnage appears to be taking square aim at the competitive gaming sector. It's wired by default, but it does seem like you'll be able to also go wireless by detaching the included cable. The premium peripheral should pair nicely with the recently released Thresher, a top-of-the-line headset I reviewed some time back and quite enjoyed.
