Jan 22, 2016 - PCI simple communications port and SM Bus controller means all the CHIPSET drivers were not installed. INTEL AMT HECI SOL is the pci port. When I deploy Windows 7 on Dell machines (noted this on Latitude E6430 and Optiplex 7010 machines) I have no missing drivers. Everything is fine in device manager, nothing yellow showing up. When I run Windows Update it offers me an update for the 'SM Bus Controller'.
After you upgrade or roll back your operating system, a yellow exclamation point displays next to SM Bus Controller in Windows Device Manager. A Cannot Install this Hardware message might also display.

note:This document pertains to a problem with the driver for the SM Bus Controller. If you are looking for driver downloads, see Obtaining Software and Drivers.
When you upgrade or change Windows to another version, the drivers for the chipset might not install correctly. This causes Windows Device Manager to display the problem with SM Bus Controller.

Hi. I have a HP Envy H8 1549 which came with windows 8. I recently got a new SSD and decided to install windows 7 on it. I've taken out the old HDD that came with the win 8 OS. I noticed the SM bus drivers were missing after installing, and had taken a few steps to update the driver but to no avail:
1) Used the windows automatic update to automatically search for drivers online
2) Tried the official HP website for my specific computer; it didn't complete the installation process because it was incompatible. It was for windows 8, but that was the only option - I figured I tried at least.
3) Downloaded Intel's Driver Update Utility - it picked up absolutely 0 drivers whatsoever
According to HP specs, the chipset that I should look for drivers is under Z75? The only thing I found online with an exact match from Intel was a whitepaper saying how fancy it is. The closest driver downloads I found was 'DB75EN', which I don't think is the right chipset. I tried downloading that anyways, but I couldn't get past the TOS agreement button. Clicking on it does not yield a dl link. It just sits there, mocking me... No adblocks were used. I think maybe the webmaster is on vacation...
Am I not looking in the right places? I haven't checked out any other websites as I don't know if any of them are legitimate. Any and all help are appreciated. Thanks.
